About O’Connell Landscape

O’Connell Landscape is a family run design and landscape installation company focused on delivering quality landscapes with a service first approach.

Founded by John and Virginia O’Connell, O’Connell Landscape has been creating beautiful residential gardens in the North Bay for over 20 years. John and Virginia are still actively involved in the company, with Virginia heading our company’s commitment to sustainability and water conservation issues.

Michael O’Connell is the second generation of the family to lead O’Connell Landscape’s field installations. After graduating summa cum laude from the landscape architecture program at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2004, Michael brought new design vision to O'Connell Landscape's projects. Michael specializes in the design and construction of unique residential and commercial outdoor environments.

Our landscapes emphasize the beauty of natural elements, featuring the rich detailing of stonework, custom garden carpentry and mediterranean and California native plantings. Our work begins with a client focused vision, we are not interested in imposing a rigid preconceived design on a project. The best designs are those that focus on the client’s needs- where the spaces created and design solutions are practical, cost-effective, and beautiful.

This design approach has been recognized in the form of several awards from the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) for O'Connell Landscape's design-build work. Our design abilities are backed by his extensive in-the-field experience, managing landscape construction projects of varying scales and complexities. All projects, once they reach a certain size, are about putting together the right skilled team, and the rigorous management of each aspect and detail of the project.
